About the Production
For 3 years a dedicated team of Film and Television, Sound Design, and Motion Media Students from the Savannah College of Art and Design have undertaken the task of researching the life and accomplishments of Ben Tucker to produce a documentary honoring the Savannah Jazz legend. After partnering with the Friends of Ben Inc., the crew raised funds for principle production, traveling across Savannah and the South-East to conduct interviews with musicians, family members, and other major figures in Ben’s life.
Steeped in the culture and music of Savannah, and scored with Tucker’s last album, Sweet Thunder, the film explores Ben’s passion for Jazz, golf, and his dedication to helping those around him.
In Tune – The Ben Tucker Story was an official screener of the 2017 SCAD Savannah Film Festival, and went on to air on Georgia Public Broadcast in February 2018.
